Update Samsung Pay on your Samsung smart watch
Update Samsung Pay on your Samsung smart watch

Updating the Samsung Pay app on your watch is just as important as updating it on your phone. Make sure to always keep it up to date, so your purchases and transactions are all smooth with no hiccups. However, the watch version of the app needs to be updated separately from the phone version of the app.
Note: Available screens and settings may vary by wireless service provider, software version, and model. To use Samsung Pay on your smart watch with a non-Samsung phone, you must update to Android 6.0 or higher.
Update Samsung Pay on your watch
Before installing any updates to Samsung Pay, make sure your watch is connected to your phone and the phone has a solid Wi-Fi or data connection.
First, you'll need to open Samsung Pay on your watch. To do this, press and hold the Back key.
If prompted, enter your four-digit PIN to verify your identity.
Tap More options (the three vertical dots), tap Version info, and then tap UPDATE. If UPDATE is grayed out, it means an update is not available at the moment.
On your phone, tap INSTALL to finish installing the update on your watch.
If Samsung Pay will not update, or shows you an error when updating, you may need to reset your watch.
Update Samsung Pay through the Galaxy Wearable app
If you'd like to use a bigger screen, you can update your watch's Samsung Pay app through your connected phone instead.
Navigate to and then open the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected phone.
The next step will vary slightly based on what watch model you have:
Watch Galaxy4 series: Tap Apps, tap App settings, and then tap Samsung Pay.
Previous models: Tap Apps, and then tap Manage apps. Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) next to Samsung Pay.
Once Samsung Pay opens, tap More options (the vertical dots). Tap Settings, and then tap Auto update Samsung Pay.
Choose between either Via Wi-Fi only or Whenever available based on your preference.
